John Richard Hall (son of William Hall and Matilda McKeon) was born Abt. 1840 in Dublin,Ireland, and died 22 March 1900 in Cairns.Qld. He married (1) Elizabeth Robinson on 14 February 1861 in Parish of St Peters Church, Dublin Ireland, daughter of James Robinson. He married (2) Mary Dudley on 18 October 1875 in St Peters Parish Church Dublin, daughter of John Dudley and Margaret Latchford.

He applied for 3 US passports to travel to Hamburg for work, his occupation was engineer for the Lozier Car Company of New York and the description on the applications states that he was 5feet 71/2 inches tall, low forehead, eyes greyish brown, nose proporitionate in 1905 he had a moustache and beard his hari clour was black, complexion dark and face oval.
