      1. Burwell Sr.2 Burchett (John1) was born 1745 in Birchen Creek, Dinwiddie County, Virginia, and died January 07, 1779 in New Jersey (in illness during Revolutionary War). He married Mary Elizabeth Fannin, daughter of Byron Fannin and Elizabeth. She was born 1746 in Birchen Creek, Nottoway County, Virginia, and died Abt. 1781.

Notes for Burwell Sr. Burchett:
Burwell Burchett bought land 200 miles west of his parents home in June 22,
1774. he volunteered for the Revolutionary War June 6, 1777. he served in
the tenth Virginia Regiment; was AWOL to Virginia in early spring 1778; planted his farm crop and returned to his unit in late spring. He reported sick late
November 1778 and died January 7, 1779.

Another account states that he enlisted on September 6, 1777. His name appeared on the Muster Rolls dated Brunswick, Whie Plains, West Point, and Middlebrook. In October and November, 1778, he is listed as "Absent and Sick, New Winsor." The next entry has a notation "Died Jan. 7, 1779" He served in the 10th and 14th Virginia REgiments. In 1774 he obtained a Land grant from the Loyal Company.
