Another account states that Mary Applegate was born on Jan 13, 1783 in Montgomery County and died on November 18, 1867 on their farm at the head of Lone Branch in Lee County, Virginia. This community became known as Burchett Town.

Notes for John Burchett:
John Burchett, according to the 1850 census of Hancock County, Tenn. was born 1777. The names of his parents are not known. neither theplace of his birth. His age could place him as the son of Burwell I who was in Fincastle County, where he obtained a land grant in 1774, but no relationship has been established. John Burchett, on Sept 12, 1809, after coming to Lee County, Va, obtained a grant by virtue of a Land Office Treas. Warrant No. 592, dated 1780...Beginning at a white oak on a spur of Wallens Ridge East of the Cool Spring (Survey Book, No. 1)

John Burchett married jane Marion, who was born in Amherst County, Virginia, and the eldest daughter of Samuel and Tabitha Marion, then living in Le County, Va. John moved to Hancock County, Tenn. where they were residing in 1850, somewhere in the vicinity of Newmans Ridge.

Will of John Burchett as follows:

In the name of God Amen: I, John Burchett of the County of Lee and State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory do hereby make pulish and declare this to be my lst will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. First, I order and direct my Executor as soon after my decease as practicable to pay off and discharge all the debts due and liabilities that may exist against me at the time of my decease. Second, I give and bequeath unto my son Elisha C. Burchett the sum of one dollar. Third, I give and bequeaath unto my son Samuel Burchett the sume of one dollar. Fourth, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elvira Oliver's heirs the sume of 1.00. Fifth, I give and bequeath unto my son James F. Burchett the sum of 1.00. Sixth, I give and bequeath unto my son Sterling G. C. Burchett the sum of 1.00. Seventh, I give and bequeath unto my son William M. Burchett the sum of 1.00. Eighth, I give and bequeath unto my son Elbert F. Burchett all my estate Real and personal to have and to hold the same forever; after the decease of myself and that of my dealy beloved wife Lavina Burchett. Ninth, I hereby nominate and appoint William Jayne Jr. to be Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name, this the 25th day of July AD 1882.
