In the early 1800's Varner, William and John Knipp; three brothers, came to the u.s. probably as a result of religious beliefs. Varner already had several children prior to coming to the U.S. Many Knipps are buried in Green County, Tenn. Christina was in the 1830 census and disapeared in 1840 census.
Church record shows she was buried at Sinking Springs Cemetery. Verner Knipp was pronounced as
"Werner" K-Nipp. Born 30 miles northwest of Frankfort Germany, Palatine region.
Varner Knip is listed in the April 23, 1796 Wythe County, VA tax records as having no slaves, three horses and two males over age 16, (Believed to be his two brothers John and William). He was listed in the 1810 census of Wythe County, Va as married about 1783 to Christeener, born before 1765, location unknown. All of their children were born in VA.
