Although Rev. William B. Wall was a resident of Amite County, he and two of his brothers, Rev. Howell Wall, Jr. and Rev. Lemuel Wall, all Baptist preachers, were well known in the central Florida Parishes for their work in the Baptist churches of the region. Furthermore, two of Rev. William's daughters, Eveline and Poline (Pauline), later became residents of Livingston Parish.

Entered the Civil War from Louisiana and was a member of the Point Coupee Battalion of Light Artillery. Was promoted to Lieutenant for gallant and meritorious conduct in the defense of Fort Pemberton. Here he was painfully wounded by the explosion of his magazine from the fire of the enemy. He was complimented by his commander and promoted to captain of artillery.
