RURY WILLIAM WALL:
Drury was born in Beaufort County, South Carolina in 1803 (His father Drury William in listed in the Census from this county in 1810). Around 1814 - 1815 his family left by ship from Charleston, South Carolina and settled in Amite County, Mississippi. Drury would have been about 11 or 12. Drury married Elizabeth Ann Hoff from St. Helena Parish. He is listed in the 1830 census from St. Helena Parish, La. Under his name are listed 2 children, 1 male and 1 female along with his wife 15 - 20 years old.

In the census from 1840 his is shown as being from Livingston parish, along with 3 children and his wife. Also he is shown as owning 8 slaves (Court transactions at the Court house in Liberty, Mississippi show some of these slave purchases).

The census from 1850 list his occupation as Justice of the Peace. This census list his wife Ann, and 5 children. This census list his slaves as follows: (1) male age 46, (1) female age 31, (1) male age 30, (1) female age 23, (1) female age 16 who was blind, (2) males age 5, (1) female age 2, (1) female age 1, and (1) female age 6 months. Total of 10 slaves.

  Notes for SAMUEL BENJAMIN WALL:
Samuel was the oldest son of Rueben Tucker and Rebecca Wall. In 1837 at the age of five years old, he joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church along with his father, mother, and younger brother John. (Minutes of Jerusalem Baptist Church). In August of 1848 at the age of sixteen he moved his membership to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church along with his mother, his younger brothers John and Dru, and his younger sister Margaret. Rueben had placed his membership there in November of 1847. Samuel served as a Deacon along with his father and brother, John. Samuel served as a delegate to the Mississippi River Baptist Association in 1853 and 1854. (Minutes of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church)

Samuel enlisted in the Confederate Army in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 8, 1861 at the age of 29. He was assigned to Co. H, 8th La. Infantry as a Private. By July of 1861 the 8th La. infantry was sent to Virginia as part of the Army of Northern Virginia. That same month the 8th was held in reserve as the first major battle was fought at Bull Run. Samuel died on August 25, 1861. It is not known whether he died as a result of injuries from battle or sickness. He was buried somewhere in Virginia (records show he died at Camp Pickens, Va.) His name is inscribed on a monument in Liberty, Mississippi honoring the sons of Amite County who gave their lives during the Civil War.
