Notes for CHARLES WILKINSON WALL:
Charles W. Wall was born in Amite County, MS, in 1820 and he died in Ascension Parish in 1904, but he spent most of his adult life, from about 1845 until about 1879, in Livingston Parish. Listed as a farmer in the parish censuses of 1850, '60 and '70, his place was just a few miles west of present-day Centerville. He also held public service positions at various times. He was possibly a deputy sheriff in the 1850's, and he was a police juror, representing Ward 9 in 1862 and in 1869/70. He served as parish treasurer in 1875.

Charles wife Rebecca was buried in the Ziegler-Gayle Cemetery near Centerville in 1879. (His son Howell Isham and his sister, Rebecca Ann Wall Zeigler are probably buried there also, but there are no markers on their graves.) Charles and all but one of his surviving children moved to Ascension Parish in about 1879/80. Charles died November 2, 1904, and is buried in the Wall Cemetery in Lake, just a couple miles south of the Port Vincent bridge. Charles daughter Emma Elizabeth and her husband James M. Holden remained in Livingston Parish, near Holden, and raised their family there.
