Notes for Martha Frances "Mattie" Skelton: Grannie Wallis (Martha) loved the creek bottom of Sister Grove Creek on her home place at Valdasta and Altoga. She refused to sell the beautiful native Burr oaks for timber during the Great Depression. Burr oaks thrive there to this day after six decades of Wallis Airhart's care. See notes under Wallis Hendricks Airhart for more information about the old homesite.
