Notes for Joseph Skelton: Joseph Skelton is written about by William Fredrick Graves in Collin County, Texas, Families, Volume II found at McLennan Couty Library. This is said about him ---
"..............Joseph Skelton died at his own hand .......at his farm home outside Murphy, Texas. Joseph Skelton had a saloon in Plano, Texas during the 1880s. His brother, William Skelton also lived in Collin County and ran a saloon in Plano. There were a number of Housewrights in Plano also in the saloon business which were probably brother-in-laws of Joseph Skelton. Housewrights were also related through marriages with Wallis family members. These saloons had the financial backing of some of Plano's prominent businessmen and citizens, which attests to the fact that they were money makers and also to their widespread acceptance by many people."
