Notes for William Bateman Ware: When William and Martha were crossing the Mississippi on their way to Texas, the boat capsized and many of their things were lost including family records and pictures.
Another bit of family oral history is that William Bateman Ware lied about his age to join in the Civil War and when he returned all his family was gone. Given the Civil War dates of 1861-1865, then he was already of age, married with children, and living in Texas away from his family roots by the time the war started.
