The Wallace Family Tree for my family begins with Richard Wade Wallace, born in 1786 in Pendleton District, South Carolina. His father's name is reported to be Jesse Wallace whose family came to South Carolina from Scotland. According to family records provided by Jasper Winfield Wallace, a descendent of Benjamin Wallace (1784), Richard Wade was the brother of Benjamin Wallace. Benjamin was married to Elizabeth Graham; other siblings included a sister named Sarah who was married to James Ayers; a sister Winnie married to Moses Walker; a sister Susannah married to Baulser Merck; and a sister Rhoda.
Following his first wife's (Nancy Cross) death about 1815, Richard married Rhoda Ann Leavell in 1819. Richard and Rhoda raised his two sons by his first wife along with at least 11 more children. He moved his family to Tallapoosa County Alabama after receiving a bounty of 80 acres of land for his service in the War of 1812.
