Walkers & Grizzles of Lumpkin Co., GA

Updated October 24, 2003

My father's family are the Walker's and my mother's family are the Grizzle's. My recent ancestors came into Lumpkin County, GA (Dahlonega) in the early 1800's. Lumpkin County, GA was created in 1832 from Cherokee, Hall and Habersham Counties. The largest part of Lumpkin County had been part of the Cherokee Indian Lands.

Lumpkin County, GA was also the site of the first major gold rush in the United States in 1828 - several years before the more famous California Gold Rush.

Feel free to browse. If you need info, please help yourself. Just drop a note and let me know who you are. If you find info that is incorrect, please let me know.

And it seems like the family names just keep going and going.......
