The Walsh clan is on the move again the address below is from Saturday 1 February 2003. The email address will be changing on approx Friday 28 March 2003 when I hook up onto Broadband. The addi is the one below with our new address.
The Dromgool Family Tree is Linleys line and the Walsh,Enright, Adams and Pontevivo is Terry's.
The background and history on the Walsh lineis limited and the main lineage that is being researched is on Micheal Matthew and Margaret (nee Brown) Walsh family of Northampton, Western Australia Micheal was the son of Martin of Galway, Ireland.
Terry has been searching for his forebears on the Walsh family for over 40 years and in August 2002 through the power of the Internet, Julie Budge (nee Walsh) found this web page and finally Terry has met and spoken to Julie and her father Frank, who is Terry's Cousin. So the tree will start to grow once again. The Dromgool report starts with Michael Dromgool, father of John (Pioneer in New Zealand. Its lists four of his known children which includes John.
The Dromgool Family in New Zealand started with the arrival of John, his wife Susan (nee Savage)and eight children aboard the sailing ship "Shalimar" accompained by a nursemaid, Margaret McArdle in December 1859 from County Louth,Irealnd. Another three children were born in New Zealand. Sadly one daughter died in Ireland. When Susan died in 1863, John married Margaret McArdle and to that marriage another 5 children were born.
The arrival of Domonic Pontevivo in Western Australia is unknown Domonic was a sailor and pearler in Western Australia. He married Ellen Barrett 1873, Ellen was murdered at Sharks Bay in 1883. Domonic then married Alice Enright in 1885. They had two children, Henry Joseph b1886 and Mary Laura b1888. Domonic died at sea on the "SS Flinders" in Western Australian waters 1889. After Domonics death his wife re-married a Thomas Winn (Wynne) and had two children, Thomas John b1890 and Maria b1893.
Included in the Family Tree are the May and Stanton Families (Linleys mothers side) of New Zealand. The Enright and Carrington families are branches of the Pontevivo tree and the Adams Family of England stem from the marriage of Henry Pontevivo and Emily Adams.
The following famlies have been included as they form limbs that have married into the Pontevivo family. They are the Roser,Hobbs and Shaw Families of Western Australia.
