Notes for F
RED GORDON WALKUP:
He is listed in the 1910 Census of Wapanucka, Oklahoma, Johnston County, Brogden Township as living on C Avenue and as being 23 years of age. He lists both his parents' birthplace as Kentucky as well as his own. Fred's occupation at the time of the census was listed as a driver for a livery stable. It shows that he rented his home, they he could read and write, that he served four (4) years in the armed forces (probably the Army) and as to the question in the census if he was deaf or dumb there is a two (2) written in the column.
They had a boarder at the time of the census named Ed. G. Gordon, age 28, widowed. He is listed as a Public Works employee and also served four (4) years in the armed forces.

hi Wendy,

I just read your e-mail. I have been working at this family tree stuff sporadically, so I am a bit rusty. Your great grandfather was Fred Walkup. Who were his parents? I don't see him on any of my sheets. I see that William and Elizabeth had a son named Fred, though. Probably named after your great grandfather? Anyway my aunt did all this research and let me copy the family group sheets, but I have no documentation. So I started doing some research and have found William and Elizabeth in Adair Co., Kentucky in the 1870 and 1880 census. You're right about the confusion with the Matthews. I have proof all the way to william and Elizabeth but the Matthews throw me and my aunt. She just jumped past them. I want to find some documentation. I was working on this and then I had a baby, and well I am just now reacquainting myself with all of this.

I have visited Joseph's and Dora's gravesites. I have family in Wapanuck (Wapy) and have many relatives buried in that cemetary. It is called Rose Hill Cemetary. I don't know if you have every been there but it is a very tiny town. No traffic lights, just a four way stop.

Well here is what I have on the children of William and Elizabeth:

1. Fred Walkup
2. Anne Elizabeth b. 25-6-1843 d. 3-9-1851
3. Emma Walkup b. 1844
4. Levi Benton b. 29-8-1845 in Bowling Green KT., Warren of Adair Co. Married in Jasper Co. Missouri, and died18-10-1924 in Valiant, OK. McCurtain Co.
5 Matthew Thomas b. 22-2-1850
6. William Archelaus b. 12-12-1847
7. John Winston Sr. b. 4-8-1852 in Columbia, Adair County, KT married Prentice Taylor
8. Mary Ermine b. 1-2-1855, m. John Edgar Stotts 1-5-1873, d. 4-4-1920
9. Sally Margaret b. 15-6-1857, married Zachary Watson
10. Baby Girl b. June 1857 (?) I may have a mistake here, look at #9
11. Fanny E. b. 2-6-1861
12. Robert b. 3-10-1863
13. Joseph Edward b. 4-4-1866, married c. 1896, d. 4-7-1935

Let me know if this is helpful to you. I was just looking at my notes and somewhere I also have info on Sally and Fanny's death's, but I believe that it is in my files in the other room. I don't have it written down here. Let me know if you need that, and I will update you.
P.S. You are probably a more experienced genealogist than I am, but my family group sheets have day before month and it always confuses me. Just thought I'd point it out.

Keep in touch and Good Luck
Karen

She lived with her daughter Margie in her later years and when she died Margie had her body taken to Tulsa so she could be buried next to Fred.

According the the 1910 Census of Wapanucka, Oklahoma, Johnston County, Brogden Township, she was 19 years of age and listed her parents' birthplace as Arkansas as well as her own.

Her social security SS5 form she lists her birthplace as Bebee, Arkansas.
