DEDICATED TO WILLIAM E WALLING 1917-2001 [cheering section and best audience... who is going to give a hoot now ? ] First a word of warning : this is a work in progress. I know there are some soft spots here and very probably a few land mines. If you can prove me wrong this exercise is worthwhile, if not, my lies are every bit as good as yours. The way it goes is you start with maybe four generations of an obscure family add a software package, helpful friends on the internet and too much time to spare. The result: a data base of some 30,000 people (including, quite probably, illegitimate fourth cousins of former in-laws) plus book shelves full of material yet to be processed. My primary interest has been the colonial Dutch but the further they get from Bergen, NJ the less I know and the more distant the relation. I hope it helps you a little. It ain't doing much for me. |
