Notes for Andrew (Andy) John Berger: Andrew J. Berger was a Baltimore City Policeman for 31 years serving mostly in the Eastern District. As a policeman, he was commended several times and once almost was killed in the line of duty. Answering a burglary alarm on a motorcycle in 1928, he crashed into a truck. At first it was believed he had broken his back, but the injuries turned out to be four broken ribs.
As a student of Baltimore History, Andrew always had an interest in antiques and he opened an antique store at 863 North howard Street which he operated until his death. He was known for being able to make lamps out of anything.
Andrew lived at 2826 Guilford Avenue, Baltimore at the time of his death.
