Here is the first draft of our line of the Hue family tree. However, we still need much more information on HUE, WOLFF, LORENZ, VON MüNCH, etc.In compiling this, I must accord gratitude to the Jersey Society and numerous members of the London, Sussex, Channel Islands, Isle of Wight and German genealogical mailing lists. Each day I witness the generous donations of time and energy by virtual strangers, re-establishing my faith in human nature.
Now, a mystery...
Our grandfather, John William Hue II, abandoned his family of wife, Lottie and three boys: John, Arthur and James in Montreal sometime after 1914 and disappeared in the Canadian maritimes. He was supposedly a medical doctor who had been disowned (for some as yet unknown sin) by his family.
John William Hue II was born May/June 3, 1889 in Munich. His father was a retired doctor, John William Hue (he gave up medicine when he was 29 to donate more time to travel and music(!) and was 70 at the time of his son's birth). His mother's name was Lina Cecilia Lorenz. She later became Lina von Münch.
J. W. H. II entered and was kicked out of Leipzig university in both 1909 and 1910 - missed too many lectures, and was on a 3-year honeymoon. I still do not know when and how he left Germany and very little about his time in Montreal and later. We are also interested in why he was disowned...
Other names we are tracing: BERKELY (several spellings), DOLBEL, DUPRé, HAMPTONNE, JOURNEAUX, LE BRETON, LE COUTEUR, LE MARINEL, MAUGER, ROBIN, SYVRET, TOUZEL and WALTERS.
