Notes for BERTHA FLORENCE METZGER: Writer and world traveller. Makes her home in Honolulu, has been Assisant Director of the Bishop Museum, edited the Hawaiian dictionary; gathered the Folk Lore of the country and had it published, the title of which is, "Tales Told in Hawaii". It was used as a reader in one of the grades. During the years she has gathered the Folk Lore of China, Korea, India and the Philippines. She is now writing plays and working with puppets. She taught puppetry in Korea after she finished her work with our government, when she was a transcriber and the War Crimes Cases were being tried in Manila and Korea. Former President Rhee gave her the Folk Tales in Hawaii when he was Dr. Rhee, before he was president. |

He was the first President of the Rotary Club at Grand Canyon. Ethel was in an auto accident, was hospitalized 17 months, finally lost one limb above the knee. |
