3. ISAAC2 MATTHEWS (JOHN1) was born Abt. 1750 in Ireland, and died March 25, 1801 in Abbeville County, SC. He married ANNE CALHOUN October 12, 1784 in Abbeville District SC, Calhoun Settlement, daughter of WILLIAM CALHOUN and AGNES LONG. She was born May 18, 1755 in Augusta County, Virginia, and died December 19, 1830 in Abbeville County, SC.

SAAC MATTHEWS:
Isaac was born in Ireland of Irish parents. He came to this country before the Revolutionary War. He landed at Charleston SC with his brother John Mathews.

his pension In Preston Co., Va. 1833

Isaac bought his homeplace located fourteen milesSouth West of Abbeville Court House within two miles of Little River on which Calhoun Mill was stiuated. He left this land to his son Joseph. Isaac was a Private in the Charleston Militia in the Revolutionary War in 1785. Family tradition states that Zacky was quite lazy. He owned two slaves.
