| The families being researched are the Warrior and Hood family surnames. The family's home State and Town from 1840 until this present day is Karnack and Marshall, Tx. The oldest known relative (to-date)is Ned Hood, who came to Marshall in 1840 from LaGrange, Tenn. He is pictured and written about in a book Titled "Leaves From A Family Album"(Holcumbe and Greer),by Jack Thorndyke Greer. The decendants of Ned are both Hoods and Warriors. The story is told that, after 1863, one of Ned's sons refused to carry the slave masters name and decided to become a Warrior for the Lord. He changed his name from Tom Hood to Tom Warrior and became a preacher. It should be clearly understood that all Warrior and Hood family members from this region of the country, are Blood Brothers and Sisters. The family members are known to live in the Dallas-Ft.Worth Metroplex, Madison,Wi., California, Illinois, Oklahoma, Georgia and several other states. I would appreciate any assistance that may be provided. Currently I have research data from approximately 1808 thru 1998. I will gladly share any or all information I have gathered with any serious family history researcher. |
