| My grandparents are a mystery to me and if anyone can help: My paternal grandfather's name was James Toman, he was supposedly with Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders, lived in Chicago, probably was born around 1880 and died around 1914...we think he was a lawyer or had knowledge of law..also liked to "invent" things, supposedly made the gasoline engine that powered the "Tunnel of Love" water works at Riverview. I believe he was born in the USA, but we aren't sure. He married my grandmother, Anastasia Jirik, also born in the USA, but no years are known. She had a sister, Kate, who married a man name Jim. If anyone can help with any information, I would be so appreciative. (My grandmother married again after she learned that her husband was found dead...he had left her with two small boys and had disappeared for several years.) I don't know her second married name...and never met either of them, as she died before my father even married. |
