I am researching both my paternal and maternal families. The most common surnames include: Plassenthal (Plasendal); Seitz; Benke, Ranly, Fecher, Grunkameyer; Rindler (Rindlerlie); Dillhoff; Guggenbiller, Steinke; Heine; Ronig; Heinrichs; and Wiss. Most of the families originated in Germany and settled in Western Ohio in or near Mercer County.
