| I am interested in finding out more information about the Forrester family. I have the name of Percival Forrester who came to the states from Newcastle, England. I have no idea of when. The earliest dated information I have is for Luther Edon Forrester Sr.(b. 1831 in Ohio). I think his mother was named Judith and born in New York in 1781. He married Nancy Near (b. 1832 in Ohio). Her parents, William (b. 1805), and Elizabeth (b. 1812) were both born in Pennsylvania. From that time most of the family members have located in the Ohio/Michigan/Indiana area Connected to the Forrester branch of the family is Henry Forker who's daughter, Jennie Flo married John Gilbert Forrester November 1, 1905 in LaGrange, Indiana. So far I have found little information on this branch. Another branch I am interested in information for is the Bates/Ford/Barager branch. The information I have begins in Lydd, England (1415) for Bates. William Abner Barager (wife - Vesta Jemima Ford, granddaughter of Issac Bates), brought his belongings down the Erie Canal from the New York area to settle in the Irish Hills area of Michigan. I am able to place the Baragers in Fayette, Ohio in 1874. I have no date or place information for the Fords. The third area of interest to me is the Voorhes/Jackson branch of my family. John Voorhes (b. September 5, 1789)and his wife, Jane E. Merritt (b. May 15, 1798) were born in New Jersey. Both died in Hillsdale County, Michigan. The Jackson history I have collected begins in England with John Jackson (b. 1774). then to Anson Jackson, (b. 1794 New York) and then to James Madison Jackson (b. 1837 Michigan) (wife, Julia Ann Voorhes-Jackson b. 1832). He also died in the Irish Hills area. I am also interested in information on the Ehlinger family. I have information as far back as J.B. Ehlinger (b. 1796) and his wife, Catherine Maria (b. 1800) both born in Germany. Their grandchildren were born in North-West Ohio and South-East Michigan. I have collected, and arranged in albums old photographs and information on each individual branch. I would love to share these with anyone interested, and welcome any information which may increase the information I have. |
