John and Kay Warren own, live in and manage a Victorian Bed and Breakfast in Natchez, MS. We have family roots in Southwest Mississippi and are researching several of our ancestors who migrated to the area in the 19th and 20th centuries. The families we are researching include Warren, Slover, Montgomery, Townsend, Glassco and Reid. We will be happy to share any information we have.
Natchez is a major tourist attraction, featuring dozens of mansions built before the War between the States and a strong Mississippi River history. Named for the Natchez Indian tribe, founded by the French, and settled later by English and Spanish, the city is a well preserved architectural and cultural center. In addition to year round touring of ante bellum mansions, Natchez enjoys a Spring and Fall Pilgrimage,an annual month long Opera Festival each May, a noted Literary Festival in June, and a hot air balloon festival in October.
