The Family of Laurie Benzie Past and Present

This is my family tree which is not without it's fair share of nuts. And I proudly admit that I am a big nut, at least I'm "nutty" about genealogy! There's something so exciting about finding a new relative or maybe finding out what your Great-great Grandfather did for a living! I am specifically researching the Benzie line but have had no luck in finding more information about James Benzie born about 1780 in Scotland, married to Jane Barr in 1804.

I have been working on my tree, off and on, for ten years. My research started with my own knowledge of the family and that lead to conversations with parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles (some of whom I had never met or knew about). From there I sailed across the Atlantic to Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand via the internet and postal service and acquired new information and confirmation on exsisting data. I have tried to obtain as many documents as possible to confirm the names and dates. While exploring the many branches of my tree, I have found others, related and not, who have helped me get this far, and I thank them all.
