My father's family (Girdler) came to Sth Australia around the middle of the 19th century from England (William Girdler died at sea on voyage from Middlesex). Other family names include John Stratford, O'Dea, George King, Hannah Barnes and possibly Mary Smith.More information required for Hannah Barnes from Surrey UK who died after a short marriage (3 September 1890) to George King on 15 September 1897. She left 2 young daughters Dora Ada & Violet and she was the daughter of William Barnes.
My mother's family (Severin and Maiwald, and Schmelzkopf and Voss) came from Prussia (Germany).
Samuel Friedrich Severin (a carpenter) came from Beutnitz, Crossen-on-the-Oder, in Brandenburg in 1853.
Samuel Friedrich Severin married Johanne Karoline Maiwald. She came with her parents (Johann Gottl. Maywald and Eleonore nee Schneider) possibly from Ober Gutscholf arriving in 1857.
Carl Friedrich August Schmelzkopf (a compositor)(son of Friedrich Wilhelm Christian Schmelzkopf and Christiane Marie nee Mueller) from Halberstadte arrived in 1858 and married Maria Voss who had come with her parents and older brother Heinrich in 1859 from Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
Interested in finding more about all ancestors in their home countries.
Wardrop family also researched from Scotland around 1906.
