* The Johannes (John) Warners of Frederick County, Maryland*

Updated September 5, 2000

This is the home page of the Johannes (John) Warner family. Although I have no concrete proof at this point, I believe the family is of German orrigin because of traditional naming patterns that the family has used that are distinctly German. Johannes (John) WARNER/WERNER married Mary Elizabeth FREED January 28th, 1810 in Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland. Their marriage and several of their children's baptisms, along with their sponsors are recorded in the Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church.John and Mary moved with their children; Daniel, Suzanna, Barbara, Jacob, John William (my grgrgr grandfather), George and Emanuel to Seneca County, Ohio in the early 1830's. Their daughter, Margaret, was born in Ohio in 1832.I believe that the Christian RAMSBURG/RANSBURG family made the move from MD to OH about the same time as my WARNER family. Later, in Ohio, two of John and Mary's sons married daughters of Christian RANSBURG.My grgrgr grandfather met and married Mary Elizabeth FLOWERS in Crawford County, OH in 1844. Later they moved to Gratiot County, Michigan with Mary's sister Catherine FLOWERS, wife of Thompson JOHNSON. One of Thompson's brothers, David JOHNSON, made the move with them along with many other Ohio families. Mary and Catherine FLOWERS left behind two sisters, Lucinda and Lydia. Lucinda married another of Thompson JOHNSON's brothers, Asa. Lydia married a Bernard HINES.I have met many "cousins" in my research. We have, together, been able to piece together what we have of the family so far. Copies of letters left behind by several of our ancestors, written during the Civil War, have proven to be invaluable in this task. Hopefully, this is only the beginning!!
