BIOGRAPHY OF TIMOTHY DARGAN
Referred to in the records as Reverand Timothy Dargan. He moved from place to place in South Carolina, and finally settled in Darlington District, where he died, leaving a son Timothy Dargan, Jr.
Fairfield District Deed Book A, page 142, shows an affidavit by Mrs Catherine Dargan, dated November 20, 1790, in which she states that her son Timothy Dargan had married Ann Beasley, and that they had one son named Timothy Dargan.
Timothy Dargan, as a resident of Amelia Township, petitioned for land at the meeting of Council for August 7, 1754. On March 9, 1754 he entered a memorial for 500 acres of land in Amelia Township, it being part of 1,000 acres granted the Hon. Robert Wright; and at the same time he entered a memorial as agent for Ann Watts, for part of the same grant. (Memorial Vol. 7, page 69)
Francis Watts dated his will October 23, 1750, named his wife Ann, his son Thomas Watts, and grandchildren, as his heirs. Thomas Watts and wife Tabitha, conveyed 150 acres on southwest side of Great Lynches Creek, March 31, 1777, they resided in the vicinity which later became Darlington District. (Provincial Deed Book S-5, page 170, and Provincial Wills.
The will of Francis Watts is witnessed by John Dargan, Ann Dargan, and Benjamin Stone.
