Curtis Rhodes was my ggggrandfather. He married Queeney
Goodson about 1830. Curtis Rhodes was born in Sampson County NC and died at his home six miles north of the Darlington County Court House. The shock of bringing home From Richmond VA., the body of his son Robert J. (who died of measles while serving in the Confederate Army) and of finding his son-in-law, Peter Byrd, a corpse, was too great a strain on him. He developed pnneumonia which proved fatal. He died 1-26-1863. He and his wife were buried in the old James Goodson Family Cemetary, sometimes called the Lewis cemetary, which is the original burying ground for Swift Creek Baptist Church.
I have extensive information on the decendants of curtis Rhodes and Queeney Goodson thanks to the book "Genealogy of Joseph Edward Rhodes" Published by the Joseph Edward Rhodes Family Association Darlington SC 1984.
I hope this does you some good. If you need more info let me know. Robert Park. ryparkjr@aol.com
