Notes for J
EREMIAH DAVIS:
January 15, 1804. Marriage Bond between Jeremiah Davis and Stacia Davis. (I have copy). "Know all men by these presents that we, Jeremiah Davis and William Davis, are held and firmly bound unto James Garr'd Esq., Govr of KY in the penal sum of fifty pounds, for the payment of which we bind ourselves, our heirs, Exr's, Admr's, and jointly, severally and firmly, by these presents, seals, both our seals, and dated this 15th day of Jany., 1804. The conditions of this obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage intended between Jeremiah Davis and Stacia Davis. Now if there shall be no lawful objections to obstruct the said marriage then this obligation to be void, else to remain in full force and virtue." signed Jeremiah Davis (seal) and Wm. Davis (seal) Teste: I. W. Clark, clk. Christian County, Kentucky, original marriage bond."

"Jeremiah Davis came to the "forks of the Little Missouri" from Illinois by way of Missouri about 1819, where he died in 1822. He was survived by his wife Stacia Davis and six children....(listed with spouses),.. These families remained as citizens of Murfreesboro, Arkansas and vicinity for many years. Clement Davis and Beverly R. Baker eventually moved to Polk, now north Howard County, Arkansas. The Sion Bradley Dickson family moved to Hopkins County, TX in 1851 and the Micajah Reeder famikly settled in TX about 1845 where they lived in Hunt County, and then later Wood and Erath Counties, Texas"; Gems of Pike County Arkansas, Vol IV 4. (see file copy)

"The early land entry books were destroyed by fire, so it is difficult to ascertain who were positively the first settlers here. The following list, though incomplete, is of some who were living here prior to 1830: Jeremiah Davis, Joseph Davis, ......etc. None are now living, but descendants of nearly all are to be found here enjoying health and happiness, and nearly all prosperity." Biographical and Historical Memoirs Pike County, 1890.
Have estate record for Jeremiah.

Notes for S
TACY (STACIA) DAVIS:
March 9, 1824. "regarding the estate of Jeremiah Davis,....it appears that Stacy Davis now Stacy Right (Wright), administratrix with the will annexed of the estate of Jeremiah Davis, deceased, is waisting and mismanaging said estate; it is therefore ordered by the Court that unless she be and appears within thirty days from and after the date of the service of this rule and file additional security; that her said letters of administration will be vacated.....

Although Stacia's last name is Davis, there is no relationship to Jeremiah. Stacia remarried a Mr. Wright in 1824 but he soon died and she took her Davis name back. In 1827, she had another child with the last name of Davis. (John Willard Davis). She remarried again, to Richard Linville in 1832.

1840 Census shows "Stacia" with 1 male (10-14), 1 female (5-9), 1 female (60-69). She is living next door to her daughter, Lydia Davis Coker.
