Ebenezer was born in Shenandoah Co., Va., 1 Oct. 1783 and died 13 Nov. 1853 Cherokee Co., Ala. on the farm he settled on in 1839 near Broomtown in the northeastern part of the county; his brother James settled in nearby Blanche; and his brother Josiah settled in the Coates Bend area in the southwestern part of Cherokee. The parents of these three brothers were Elizabeth and Josiah Leath (born c 1746 Fredrick Co. Va. and died Aug 1787 present day Jefferson Co. Tenn., then Green Co. N.C.) Their grandparents were Miriam and George Leath of Fredrick Co. Va. and their great grand-father was James Leath who was born 1680-1690 and died mid to late 1840's (should be 1740's) in the Shenandoah Valley in what is present day Page Co. Va.
Ebenezer served in the War of 1812 in the East Tenn. Militia.

In McCall's Roster Of Revolutionary War Soldiers Of Georgia Volume 1, it said and I quote: "Thomas Carter born at Edgecombe District, South Carolina, in 1750, died in Franklin County, Georgia, in 1810, and was a Revolutionary War Soldier of Georgia and received a bounty grant of land for his services upon certificate of Col. E. Clark, April 12 1784, in Franklin County, Georgia."

In Clark's "Loyalists In The Southern Campaign Of The Revolutionary War" appears the following statement: The following men belonged to Captain William Payne's Company and served under Major Ferguson. Included in the many pay abstracts is the name Carter, Thomas. He is listed as serving in the Little River Militia, Ninety-Six Brigade.
Service: Thomas Carter was living in Edgecombe District, S.C. at time of the begining of the Revolutionar War, enlisted in S.C. Regiment, was at seige of Augusta and fought in this seige with S.C. and Ga. soldiers under Col. Elijah Clarke, who commanded all soldiers there at the time. Captain Williamson's Company.
