James Phineas Huff (son of Lundy Huff) was born Abt. 1825 in At or near Suffolk, Nansemond Co., Virginia, and died Bet. 1870 - 1875 in Jasper Co., Georgia.He married Mary Ann Barr on Bet. 1850 - 1852, daughter of Britton Barr and Midred Gwinn.

He came with his family to Georgia in 1830.He is buried on "the old home place" in Gladesville, GA, according to "History of Jasper County, Georgia", compiled and sponsored by the Jasper County Historical Foundation, Inc., 1984.At the request of his grandson, Shelton Orell Huff, a government marker was placed in his memory in the Williams-Payne Cemetery off 7 Islands Road in Bethell Church Community (GA Hwy. 212 west out of Monticello, GA.He was a captain in the 365 Regiment, CSA on October 7, 1862.He was appointed by Joseph E. Brown, then governor of Georgia.It is likely he never saw any action.
He also served as a Justice of the Peace of Jasper County.
