The following is from "Romantic Kent: More than Three Centuries of History, 1626-1952" by Victor Lauriston, 1952

"In the possession of the Chatham-Kent Museum, Canada are three day books of James W. Little, (or Lytle), pioneer Erius storekeeper. Though the name Erius was to vanish from the map of Kent, the place was a prosperous hamlet prior to 1850. Erius became Ouvry, and so remained until the establishment of rural delivery eliminated small post-offices, becoming Raleigh, Kent County, Ontario, Canada.

Settlement in the area dated from shortly after the War of 1812, the D'Clute, Toll, Lytle (Little), Goulet, Pardo, Huffman, Simpson an numerous other families coming in 1817.
That the pioneer storekeeper was something of a banker is indicated by his entry,
"Jerry D'Clute, Dr., To cash lent, 15s."
"Jeremiah D'Clute's purchases on March 9, 1830, include---."
Another entry, appended to a lengthy list of purchases on Nov. 17, 1832 by Jerry D'Clute: Memo. Wm. H. White informed Mr. D'Clute that I could not make any discount on goods sold him from this day inclusive."

This is the sum total of the info I have on DeClute/D'Clute. As you can see, it does not say where they came from. Ontario is so close to the USA that I suspect they all went back & forth regularly. As far as I know, we were the only branches of the Wellwoods that came at that time. Catherine would be Wellwood in any records after her marriage. I do not know if she had any brothers or sisters.
I would suggest that you check for any baptism, marriage records at Old St. Paul's Anglican Church, Chatham, Kent County, Ontario, Canada; that is where I found these. You might check the other churches too, this group changed religions several times depending on the political climate. To me, D'Clute sounds French??? If so, maybe Catholic, I think the Wellwoods started off as Catholics. Ephraim was baptized Anglican, later became a Methodist.
Note that the spelling in all of the very old records is D'Clute. Jeremiah D'Clute may have come up from Michigan in 1817.
