| My research is on my Ancestors of the Portland, Maine area. They were known as the "Royal Family of Stroudwater" My mother lived in the house that overlooked the banks of the majestic Stroudwater River. Here was the home of six generations of the Titcomb-Quinby-Hawes line. From 1796-1937 members of my family walked the same floors of this Mansion on Westbrook Street in Stroudwater, Maine. Most of them lie buried in the ancient cemetery that rests at the edge of the Mansions lawn. These men and women did much to help shape the once thriving community of Stroudwater. They were merchants, lumber surveyor's, lawyers, State Senators, nurses in the Civil War, poets and members of the W.C.T.U. along with several other public offices. Their story is recorded here so that their lives and services to the Portland area, will not be forgotten. If you have any information on this line I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Or if you have any questions please contact me. Sincerely Linda Bowser Waterman |
