There were a few other minor entires in the estate of James Petty; however, the interesting document in his estate was filed at P. 138 December Term 1868 in which Thomas M. Petty, 20 yrs. 10 mos, 2 days; Calvin G. Petty; 18 years, 1 mo; Jesse M. Petty 16 yrs, 1 mo 26 days who select Caroline Petty as their guardian and curator. Gideon M. Petty, 13 years, 3 mos 18 days; Martha J. Petty, 9 yrs, 11 mos 10 days and James H. Petty, 6 yrs, 6 mos & 7 days have no guardian and Caroline is appointed by the court as she has entered into bond to perform her duties as guardian and curator.

Burial: 1864, Younger Cemetery, Cedar County, Missouri

Notes for Mahala Caroline Wrenn:
Mahala is not found in the 1870 Census of Cedar County but in 1870 Children living in home of daughter Mary j. and in 1880 two of her children Mary and Eldora are found in the household of their Uncle Thomas W. Wrenn. So So this puts her death between June 1870 and July 1871 as per her estate going to court. So Mahala must have died before the Census of 1870 taken in August of that year.

The estate of Caroline Petty was entered July 1871 p. 546 with Lewis Gravely, public administrator, appointed as her administrator.
On Jan. 11, 1872, p. 624, Jesse Monroe Petty, 19 years, Gideon Petty 16 years, Martha J. Petty, 13 years and James M. Petty, 11 years select Nelson Fritts as heir guardian and curator. Actually, Jesse and Gideon chose Nelson, and Nelson was appointed for Martha and James. Bond $800.00 and William Church & Abram C. Petty were securities. This did not appear in the index. I just happened to scroll a few more pages and found it.
In Vol. D&E 1872-1880 FHL film #0932397 the only matter there was Oct. 1873, p. 247 when Lewis Graveley administrator files his final account and distribution in the amount of $11.94 was made to the following: Wm. A. Petty; Mary J. Petty; Calvin Petty; Jesse M. Petty, Gideon Petty Dora Petty, James Petty and Thos. Petty. This was written out in line fashion as I typed it and squeezed onto the bottom of the page so you could hardly read it.
