I am currently researching my father's side of the family. His father's family name is Mechavich. The polish spelling of this name is Misiewcz. I have found back as far as my g-g grandfather George Albert Mechavich, he married a Josphine Cielinski. He lived in Minnesota in Benton County. My grandmother on my father's side name was Chapp. Her dad was James Chapp. His father died in Poland before they came to the U.S, his name was Dominic. His mother's name was Susanna Plomn, she remarried to a Andrew Detloff. Alternate ways of spelling Chapp are Chopp, Schopp. They also lived in Minnesota in Benton County. I have been able to find out that all these people that settled in this area basically came from the same place in Prussia. |
