He married MARY ANN SARAH FELDER Aft. 1863, daughter of FREDERICK FELDER and MARGARET BOWMAN. She was born May 02, 1847 in Charleston District, South Carolina, and died September 25, 1923 in Rosebud, Fall County, Texas.

Notes for JOHN DOZIER HOWARD:
John P. Howard was born in New York. Information has been presented as fact that he run away from home at age of 15,and went to sea. He settled in Selma Alabama where his occupation as stated as an educator. What is meant by educator is unknown. None of this information has been verified, only told in stories by descendents.

John D. Howard was a private in Company "C" 17th Ala Regiment. The Company was organized on 14 Sep 1861. John was listed on the roster when the Company was marched to the front on 25 Sep 1861.

Note: Information written in ink on the reverse side of death certificate indicates John D Howard moved to Selma Alabama in 1865, then moved to Starksville Miss in 1870. Information indicates John D was buried in Starksville Miss

His name is given as Robert Reed Wright Howard, Robert Readright, Robert Read Wright. The only name found listed on census indicate only R.W. Howard. Robert W. Howard, and Robert Wright Howard.

The 1910 Soundex T-1277 Roll 113, Indicated that Howard, R.W. w/m age 59, residing in Falls County, Texas along with M.A. (Martha A.) Wife Age 70, born in Mississippi, and Augusta . Age 33, living in the same dwelling at time of census. Relatives refer to Martha as "Aunt Martha" when all records indicate she became his wife after the death of Malissa Ann Scallons in, Manalo (Rockdale) Texas in 1886. Do not know if Martha was a distant relative. Soundex 1910 Vol 50, ED 60, Line 48 Martha was previously married and had at least one son.
Her married mane was either Dansby or Danzey. Unkown which is correct.
