Notes for Benjamin Long, Sr.:
Benjamin Long Sr. came from Carolina County Va., about 1755 to that area of Orange County, NC. which later became Person County. He received two Lord Granville grants in 1758 and 1761 for land totaling 855 acres, located on both sides of Storey's Creek.
His wife Mary is thought to be Mary Bond, daughter of John and Mary Bond of Culpepper, Va. The children of Benjamin Long, Sr., named in his will recorded in 21786, were Benjamin, Jr.; Sarah; Leah; Martha; Reuben; and Mary. Two other probable sons, Jon and Bromfield were not in the will and may have pre-deceased their father. He was the 6th son of Bromfield

He is listed in "Heitman's Historical Register" as a Revolutionary War Soldier who rose through the ranks as a Sargent, ensign, 2nd Lt. 1st Lt.
