5. ROBERT ANDERSON⁵ WEBB (WILLIAM DOUGLAS⁴, JACOB WEBB³ 2, WILLIAM WEBB² 1, JACOB WEBB¹) was born December 20, 1844 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and died February 14, 1927 in Saltilla, Mississippi. He married MARY LEAH BONNETT November 20, 1870 in Lee County, Mississippi.

Notes for ROBERT ANDERSON WEBB:
According to his tombstone, Robert Anderson was in the Third Army Corps, Confederate States of America.

He left home at the age of 17 and signed up with the Confederate Army. He was with Robert E. Lee when Lee surrendered, and was apparently very close to Lee, because Robert Anderson is the only one who Lee said goodbye to when Lee exited the courthouse at Appamattox. Robert Anderson supposely was Lee's personal spy, although the details of Robert Anderson's work are not known. A brief newspaper article the day of his death did descripe him as a Confederate spy, and a close associate of Robert E. Lee.

A humorous story about Robert Anderson is that one day, while a young relative who had just returned from World War I was visiting him, Robert Anderson picked up the Enfield rifle the young man was showing him. While sighting along the rifle, Robert Anderson supposedly said, "If I had had a rifle like this when I was in Washington, I could have picked old Abraham Lincoln right off the steps of the White House and saved us all a whole lot of trouble."
