Pages 297-316,are all descendants of our original Rev. Thomas Baker (1638-1710)
There are 24 more pages of miscellaneous Baker's that Frank Doherty (author of the Patent), has not been able to place.
More research needs to be done in the New York area, as there were other Patent holders that had disputes over the Land Grants given to Beekman.
Most of the Baker's were originally in Duchess County, but they also relocated to neighboring counties, in their search for farmland.

A Thomas Baker leased a farm of 218 acres in lot 9 of the Poughquag Purchase on 26 March 1741 from Catherine Pawling.Catherine Pawling mentioned Thomas Baker Jr. in a 1744 entry in her rent book.The farm comprised one-half of lot 9 and was located in the area that today is Green Haven State Prison.The lease was to Thomas Baker and his two sons, Joseph and Benjamin.(Record 1986: 147)
On 5 Feb 1744/5 the Supervisors of DC paid Thomas Baker #1/10 for bringing "one ffield to Goal for Counterfeiting Money." (SBP 1:172)
As Thomas Baker Jr. he was taxed from 1738 through 1747/8 when the Jr. was dropped because he evidently died or his father did.Thomas Baker Jr. was taxed in Beekman at #1 in Feb. 1738/39, #3 from 1740-42m #5 from Feb. 1743-45, and #8 in Feb. 1746/7, indicating substantial wealth.
Thomas Baker was taxed in Beekman at #3 in 1740/1, #4 in Feb 1741/2, #3 in Feb 1753.Then as #1 in 1758, #3 in 1763 and at #2 from June 1767 thru 1770.
The following contract would indicate that Thomas b 1697 died:
"On 11 Nov 1747 Catherine Pawling entered into a contract with Apolonia Beaker (sic) as follows: "on Condition following that the said Apolonia Beaker shall deliver up the house, fencing, Building and all other edifices as its now in being without breaking or making any kind of wast(e) on the Garden Land and premices now in her possession, or pluck up or digg out any fruit tree or bush-- except three pe(a)ch trees of two years groth and to deliver the possession as above in the hands of Martyn Wittman on which delivery the said Whitman Shall pay to the said Apolonia Beaker Eleven pounds Current money of New York and this shall be then a sufficient receipt for the said Whitman and shall be accepted by the said Catherin Pawling for so much money as eleven pounds."
The contract was witnessed by Henry Beekman and Joana Livingston.A postscript adds:"The above Being a full Discharge of all charges the said Apolonia hath been since her having the said premises as supervisatory (?) on fences and house & pavement of the street.Also noo Demaind on the side of the said Catherine shall be made for any Rents of this Premises--

John's will was written and signed 2 Sep. 1757.He refers to himself as a yeoman.His "loveing wife" Susannah and son Samuel are "joyntly" named as executrix and executor.He gives to "my lov---son" Samuel Baker, one hundred pounds and to son Elisha Baker, ten shillings.To daughter Elizabeth Wilcox, sixty pounds and to daughter Susannah Sunderlin, "my Skunk House."He orders his house and land to be sold, debts and bequests paid, and the remainder of the estate to be equally divided between "my loving wife" and three daughters, Deborah Baker, Mary Baker, Sarah Baker.The Will was probated at Exeter on 29 Sep. 1757.

On 29 Sep. 1757 at Exeter, Susannah assigned over and quit clamed to son Samuel Baker all her "right of dower and power of thirds" in the land given to Samuel by John Baker in 1751.On 1 Aug. 1758 "Susannah Baker widow and Samuel Baker yeoman.....executrix and executor of the last will and testament of John Baker ... being ordered to sell the house and land that did belong to the said John Baker, for and in consideration of the sum of "Two Thousand Pounds" sold the land, estimated to be fifty-five and one-half acres, to John Reynolds of N. Kingstown.
Susannah's will of 23 Apr 1773 (now Susannah Stanton) was written and signed, by mark, at Charlestown, RI. Her "loving daughter' Susannah Sunderlin was appointed as executrix.Six shillings are given to "my loving daughter Elizabeth Wilcox and "my Beloved son" Samuel Baker.One gown, one "peticoat," one shift and one apron are given to son Samuel's wife Abigail and son Elisha's widow Sarah.To daughter Sarah Lemennier), fourteen dollars of household goods and wearing apparel and sixteen dollars in dollars.To her three daughters Susannah Sunderlin, Mary Browning, and Deborah Bentley, the remaining part of the estate to be equally divided amongst them.(It is of interest that the bequests are in both English and American currencies.)The three-page and double-colomn inventory for probate was signed at Charlestown on 12 May 1773.

TC EX 3 Mar 1756.Whereas Peter West and his family namely:Ann, Francis, Benjamin, & Jonathan came to live in EX by virtue of a certificate from TC of WG dated 23 Feb 1754 whereby sd TC of WG doth acknowledge sd Peter West & his family to be inhabitants of sd WG & sd family or a part thereof is likely to be chargeable to Ex if not speedily removed.Therefore ordered that the clerk grant a receipt to a proper officer to convey said Peter West and his family, namely as above out of EX & deliver the same to one of the overseers of the poor of WG with a copy of said present.Ordered that Volontine Wightman & his family have a certificate to NK.
