The Loyalists were given land in what we now call New Brunswick. They eventially settled in Belyeas Cove NB. It is beleived but not confirmed that Elizabeth Webster arrived here with her 10 year old son from America around 1783-1784. Initially from England she immigrated to America in 1772 and resided in Philadelphia. Her husband was killed attempting to join British troops at Elizabethtown. She fled America and was initially granted a lot in Parr Town (Saint John) on August 14 1784. She then was given a grant of 180 acres in Bellisle Bay, in Kings County. An Edward Webster was a member of the Baptist Church at Hatfeild Point in 1803. He could have been the child of Elizabeths Was this Edward Webster the "Edward Webster Senior" a school teacher, who was a member of the Baptist Church at Lower Cambridge in 1840? Also was he the Edward Webster, miller, who was a member of the same church? |
