Mary Ann was employed in domestic services. Her father, Benjamin was a Sawyer (tree feller) and her mother had died on 1 March, 1903, aged 42 of possible drowning in Bellinger Heads. Mary was 15 years old.
In 1906, Mary (17 years) married William Henry Sheridan (24 years) on 11 October, 1906 at St Margarets Anglican Church, Bellingen Heads, NSW.
They had 7 children, these were:
