This page begins with the Weddle family, but will include the family trees for spouses and siblings, as we are able. Chris Weddle is the great-great grandson of the Truman Weddle's from Reserve, Kansas. Wife, Carol, is granddaughter of the E. Lewis Smith family which originated in South Dakota, and emigrated to the Portland, Oregon area. Some family names to be included: Weddle - Chesnut, Tufford, Harbour Thompson - Mann, Webb, Talley, Norton Smith - Painter, Coulter, Starkweather We are told that our Weddle ancestors orginated near the borders of Scotland and England, and the first emigres settled in Kentucky. The earliest definite Weddle connection we have is Truman; born 1833, and buried in Reserve, Kansas. We are particularly interested in bridging the gap between Kentucky and Kansas; also, in finding out about Eugene, born to Truman and Mary J. (Spicer). His tiny stone in the Corneliuson Cemetery, Reserve,KS, says only "Baby Eugene". The Elisha Lewis Smith/Josie Painter family is planning a reunion, to be held in Portland, OR, June 2003. |
