Hi! Thanks for looking in. I have been trying to get my ancestors over the Atlantic back to their places of origin. Not easy! I started searching for John Sullivan, my Irish immigrant great-grandfather, only to discover that every third fellow off the boat in 1869 was named JOHN SULLIVAN! Naturally, John's wife was named Mary. They emigrated to New York, Scranton, PA, and CT before settling in New Bedford, MA. So, I tried looking for my grandfather, who died when my dad was two, Thomas Gavagan. THOMAS WHO? Had noone ever heard of this Irish GAVAGAN family? Or was it Gavigan? Gavin? Galigan? Gauvin? No, by heaven, it's Gavagan, and I'm gonna prove it! I hope. His father, Robert Gavagan was the immigrant, and he came into Boston in 1847, where he settled and married Mary A. Lynch. I think the Gavagans originated in Boyle/Roscommon, and the Sullivans in Kerry. Any information would be gratefully accepted. Thanks again. Fran
