Notes for Zoe Rosenstein:
"I was very fond of Uncle Louis Rosenstein (Jane's grandfather) and he of me.During WWI he often sent me coffee and somnetimees I traded 100 grams of coffee for other groceries.I received 10 kg of potatoes or sugar or butter for it.In Jan. of 1912, your grandparents and your mother took a European trip and visited all your relatives.Your mother was the most beautiful girl imaginable and all of young relatives were in love with her, including my brother who was 16 years old at the time.At the time I was with my aunt in Cologne, and one evening my Uncle Siegmund invited us to dinner at a hotel and there were 8 of us Rosensteins, and another evening we ate at Max Lobbenberg's (Otto's father).Your grandfather brought me a beautiful box of chocolates, I can remember very well.I was 13 years old."From a letter to Jane Weiner dated Dec. 2, 1974 from Padua, Italy.
