The Meller-Weicht Family Home PageUpdated February 14, 2008 |
My husband and I are researching our family's genealogy. Most of his relatives have been from Pennsylvania (especially BEDFORD County). They arrived from Germany in the 1740's and settled in a Moravian Colony near Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I am also very interested in the following surnames BOOR, BUSSARD, CESSNA, WERTZ and NITSCHMAN/NITSCHMANN. Any assistance/information that can be provided would be appreciated. My husband is looking for any information on PETER WEICHT circa 1740's who was a Moravian farmer who immigrated to Pennsylvania. He was from Silesia and arrived on the ship IRENE from London in 1753. He arrived in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on September 14, 1753. He may be a brother to Susanna WEICHT NITSCHMANN who arrived at the John Nitschmann Colony near Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1749. She was captured by Indians at the Gnadenhutten Massacre (1755) and died later in Indian captivity near Tioga. A lot my (Teresa's) relatives came from England, Austria and Ireland. They settled in various places across the United States including Minnesota, Illinois, Louisiana, and Texas. I am researching surnames including - BARRAM, CARY, KEEFE, GRISMER, HEARD, MELLER, WILKINSON, JACKSON, and MOTHERSPAW, as well as many others. Information can be found at ancestry.com in my personal member tree called Meller Family Tree. If you would like access to it, please email me and give me a little information on your family connection, and I will make arrangements to allow access to it. |
