William Pinkney Ennis
Born February 24, 1842 in Georgia. Enlisted as a Private April 18 1862 in Company I , 47th Alabama Infantry Regiment at Loachapoka, Alabama for three years. He was present at Cedar Run August 9th ; absent sick at Manssas April 30th through Fredricksburg December 13th. AtGeneral Hospital No. 2 at Richmond, Va. on September 30 , 1862. Captured at Chicamauga on September 19 , 1863 . Received as POW at Camp Douglas ,Ill. on october 4, 1863 . He was discharged at Camp Douglas, Chicago , Illinois on June 13 , 1865. He was one of four brothers who served in the Confedrate Army. The others were John Marion Ennis (Co. E, 47th Alabama), Benjamin T. Ennis And James W. Ennis (Both were in Co. E , 14th Alabama
and both died in service). William P. Ennis married Angelina Yarbrough on September 27 1859 and His second marriage was to Jane Broughton Oliver on Dec. 21 1876. He died on June 11 1910 in Lanett, Alabama and is buried in the Cith Of Lanett Cemetery.
