Notes for MELVIN HARRY BURKETT/BURKITT: Obituary: Lapeer County Press, December 26, 1968 Melvin Burkitt, 53, died Saturday, Dec. 21 at Lapeer Hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident Dec. 17. Mr. Burkitt lived at 710 Lake Shore Dr., Columbiaville. He was born Sept. 1, 1915 in Gladwin Co, Mich. He married Sarah Mabery in North Branch on Oct. 9, 1937. He was a member of North Branch Lodge 312 F & AM, North Branch chapter 138 RAM, past worthy patron of the North Branch Eastern Star, chapter, 149, and a member of the Bay City Consistory. Funeral services were held for Mr. Burkitt tuesday at the Blackburn Funeral Home, North Branch, The Rev. Ralph Pratt officiating. Burial was in West Deerfield Cemtery. Survivors include his wife, 1 son, George of East Lansing, and 1 daughter, Mrs. Paul (Bonnie) manville of North Branch. Also 3 uncles, William Brown of Sanford, Michigan, Stanford Brown of Flint, and Gordon Brown of Columbiaville. Also a stepsister, Thelma Lambert of Lapeer. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren. |
