According to the Census dated 31 August 1850, Thursey McMillan was still alive. Sons Alexander and Andrew are living with her, Alexander is listed as a farmer at age 23 years and Andrew is listed as 12 years of age.

The census also lists Thursey's mother, Nancy nee Nall Gambill, as living with her and aged 90 years.

6. ANDREW4 MCMILLAN (JOHN3, JAMES2, JOHN1) was born March 17, 1793 in Nathans Creek, Wilkes County, NC, and died April 17, 1885 in Nathans Creek, Ashe County, NC. He married (1) JENNIE FIELDS in NC, daughter of JOSEPH FIELDS and MARGARET HASH. She was born May 28, 1793 in NC, and died November 11, 1855 in NC. He married (2) LUDEMIA JUSTICE. She died 1866.

Andrew and Jennie lived on the land willed to them by his father, John, at Nathans Creek. Andrew was active in the church having served several times as a representative to the Baptist Convention. He and his wife were buried on a knoll near the mill on the home farm.

The children of Andrew and Jennie named in his will were; Jesse B. m. Rebecca Reeves; Alexander B. m. Nancy Reeves; Andrew N. or M. m. Charity Reeves; Marion m. Jessie Young; Eveline m. Ezekiel Young; Mary m. Eli Young; John died young; Fields m. Sarah Faw and Margaret m. Rev. Nathaniel Senter.

It has been a custom in this family for two members of one family to marry sisters or brothers of another family.

Will of Andrew McMillan:

In the name of God Amen. I Andrew McMillan of teh County of Ashe and State of Northe Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for his goodness do this 13th day of March in the year of our Lord 1873 do make and publish this my last will and testament. 1st I give and bequesth to my beloved wife Ludema McMillan all the property that she brought me provided she out lives me. In addtion hereto I give her two choice cows, six choice hogs and two sheep andd fifty dollars in money. I also give her as a dowry in my lands the following boundary begining on a white oak near the church house running east with my line to a stake in the county road then east with sd road to a stake in my line then north with my line to the road between the mill and Solomon Coxes then with a road on the mill to J. B. McMillans barn then with the main road to the begining to have and to hold and occupy during her natural life or as long as she continues my widow and no longer. I also give Jesse McMillan the land named in dowry with the balance of the land on Nathans Creek, for which he is to pay one thousand dollars to F. J. McMillan Eveline Young, Polly Chambers, Marion Young, Peggy Senter heirs to be equally divided among themor their heirs. as the Nergoe property that I give ny daughters in palce of land that I give to my sons has been lost I give them 400 and twleve acres of land known as the Turner and Nettle cove lands to be equally divided between them or their heirs. There is seventy acres of land known as the Copper Mine tract that is to be sold with all balance of my property and the money divided equally with all my heirs also all money on hand at my death and notes to be equally divided among all my heirs after they are collected. All notes that I hold against anu of my children is to be accounted for both principle and interest. All just debts to be paid that I may owe which at this time is nothing if I owe ten dollars in the world I do not resollect it - I hereby appoint and constitute my sons F. J. McMillan an d Jesse McMillan coexecutors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have set my hannd and seal day and date above written.

John McMillan's Last Will and Testament:

In the name of God Amen.

I John McMillan of the County of Ashe and State of North Carolina feeling weak in body and knowing that all men must die and after death the judgement when all mankind must give an account for the deeds done in the body. And as for my properrty both real and personal my will is as follows. I bequesth and give to my son William McMllan the land where he lives known as the James McMillan tract it is to be divided from the tract that I now live on in the following manner, to begin at the mouth of a small branch called the middle branch that runs into Piney Forks near the old Wm. Baldwin house place and south of Joseph B. Parsons - on the west side of the old Coots field fenceso as to include said old field thence with the fence wagon road then to the old ridge or orchard fence on Bakers ridge known as the Wm. Baldwin place. And to include said field east to A. B. McMillan's land annd his lines and William Hines and Moses Dixon lines to the first station. It being the land that my father will to James McMillans sons. The home plan and all my adjoining land I give to my son John McMillan with the following that is to say that my beloved wife is to have the houses the out houses and her dower in the home of land during her life. I also will to her forever the tract of land on the south fork of the New River containing about two hundred acres it being the land that I purchased of T. Witcher. She is to sell or dispose of it as she may think proper. She is to have ten choice cows, sheep and hogs half of what I know have on hand. Also my yolk of oxen and my blacksmith tools for her lifetime (my blacksmith tools his life time). I give my two horses Doll and Dove, all my household and kitchen furniture and I give my wife three Negroes her choice during her life. I give to William McMillan my negro boy Simon and to my son John McMillan I give the negro boy Samm and to my daughter Adaline I give the negro boy Alfred, to my daughter Polly Dickson I give her a note I hold om Emoch Reeves that he gave me for teh negro girl I sold him. My daughter Nancy that married Nash (Noah) Baldwin being dead and left no heirs and what property that I gave him after said marriage he may keep, but he is not to have anymore of my estate and the note I hold on Nash (Noah) Baldwin he is to pay it to my estate or heirs. To my daughter Jane I give a small negroe girl named Ann (Alice). The balance of my property not willed is to be sold and all my debts collected and all my debts to be paid. And any money remaining on hand to be divided among my daughters so as to make them equal, except Cindy Cavender, the propety that I gave my two sons is to be all that they are to have the land that I purchased in Grayson County known as the Ed Parsons tract Caswell Halsey is to have. The land on the west side of the wagon road at its value, if he can pay for all said tract he may have it. If not the residence is to be sold and the money divided among my daughters as above mentioned with theabove exceptions. I give to my daughter Jane a mare she claims to be her property. I consitute and appoint Alexander B. McMillan my executor to execute this my last will and testament. Revoking all other wills and testaments.

I amke the following codasil to the above will. I have claims and leases for mineral in several tracts of land. If there should be found on any said land based as above mentioned that any may be of value my will is that all my children should have an equal interest in said mineral by them paying or causing to be paid an equal share of the expense of testing and working said lands. Given under my hand and seal this 13th day of August 1855.
