My Family History is very interesting. For many Recent years the famly had rumored the name Stearn was part of the family name thinking that Stearn as a boy that was adopted into the Wells family at some point. It turns out that Stearn is the correct name of our family. In the late 1700s Christopher Stearn married into a French family in Quebec. The name Stern in German means bright Star and the French brighest star is the Christmas Star or Noel. So over the next few 100 years and as the family moved into Vermont the name was "slanged" from Noel, Nowell, Well, Wills, Wells exc... About the mid 1800s in Milton, Vermont the Wells name stuck for this line of family.
